Dear Parent/Guardian 

As you know, we are continuously evaluating ways to raise the achievements of our pupils. I’m pleased to tell you that the school has recently subscribed to two web sites which your child now has unlimited access to: 

1. SAM Learning 

A top quality eLearning service that has been proven to improve examination results through examination practice and related revision. 

To access the service at www.SAMLearning.com pupils need three details: 

2. Learn Premium 

Learnpremium offers almost complete coverage of the core curriculum through a huge range of lessons, interactive resources, activities, worksheets and tests delivered in one handy website. Unfortunately, there are no Music resources available but almost every other subject is present, including some we don’t do at Madeley High School such as Spanish! 

To access the web site at www.Learnpremium.co.uk pupils need their log-in details. "To access learnpremium please ask a member of teaching staff for your login details".

Once pupils have entered these details they can tick an “Auto Login” box so that they don’t have to enter them again on their computer.

One of the key features of these two websites is that they can be accessed from virtually any computer with internet access – and other schools who use them report significant usage outside the school day.  

If you have a computer with internet access at home, I hope you will allow it to be used to access these services, but if that is not possible, we will be making arrangements for access to ICT facilities in school outside timetabled hours so that no-one is at a disadvantage. Of course, it is also possible for pupils to use them from computers in other places such as libraries and community centres. 

I realise you may have concerns about youngsters using the internet, and may wish to establish your own family rules about where and when this is to be done. 

All our pupils will be told how the services work over the next few weeks in special assemblies and lessons, and everyone should have a sticker showing their Sam Learning log in details in their Planner. You may also want to ask your child to show you these websites, particularly the area in Sam Learning that reports on their progress and shows their marks! 

It is hoped to provide an opportunity for you to have a look at both Sam Learning and Learn Premium at Parents Evenings during the year. In the meantime, if you have any questions about either of them please feel free to contact Mr Surtees at school.
